Norris Novak Latshaw
Kalliopi joined Zouk 2017 as the Investor Relations Analyst. Prior to joining the firm, Kalliopi worked for Prytania Investment Advisors, a structured credit specialist asset management firm in London, as an Investor Relations Analyst.
Kalliopi holds a BSc Hons degree in Accounting and Finance from Lancaster University.
John has over 30 years’ experience in capital markets and the financial services industry specialising in the energy, natural resources and alternate energy sectors. He has an extensive knowledge of corporate governance practices having been a Board member of both private and public companies in UK, Europe and North America. John is Chairman of Zouk’s Remuneration and Appointments Committee and is a Non-Executive member of the Board which provides leadership and is responsible for the strategic guidance and effective control of the business in terms of risk and financial management.
John was previously Chairman of zSol, Zouk’s successful solar investment company. In addition, he was a Non-Executive Director and Chairman of the Audit and Remuneration Committees of JKX Oil & Gas Plc, a FTSE 250 company. He also held board roles at Gas Turbine Efficiency (GTE), Landkom International PLC and as Executive Chairman of Killingholme Power Group PLC. John spent 20 years at NatWest in a variety of senior executive roles including EVP of NatWest Markets New York and Global Head of Project Finance. John is an Associate of the Institute of Bankers and member of the Institute of Directors.
Sarah joined Zouk in 2016 with 4 years of experience in equity research, M&A and project finance.
Prior to joining Zouk, Sarah worked for the Natural Resources Advisory team at ING, focussing on project finance transactions in the Oil & Gas and Metals & Mining sectors. Sarah previously worked as an Oil & Gas equity analyst for AIM listed companies.
She has completed CFA Level I and holds a BA Hons in History from the University of Durham.
Andre joined Zouk’s Infrastructure Team in 2018. He has over 4 years of experience in financial advisory, project finance and renewable energy investments. His responsibilities include deal origination, due diligence and financial modelling.
Prior to joining Zouk, Andre worked in the investment team of the German asset manager, Luxcara and in the project advisory department of Investec Bank, where he focussed on transactions in the renewable power generation space.
Andre holds an MSc in Finance from the University of Warwick as well as a BSc in Business from Ludwig-Maximilian University of Munich, Germany.
With an unrivaled track record in business management, Adrian Pike has built a career within the energy, telecoms and services sector, which spans over 30 years.
Having started his working life as an apprentice electrician, Adrian went on to rise through the ranks within Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE) to become group managing director, with responsibility for contracting, telecoms, micro-renewables, utility solutions, and datacentres across the UK.
He later co-founded Anesco Limited, which developed into one of the fastest growing companies in the UK under his leadership.
Adrian stepped down as CEO of Anesco in April 2016 and has set up Anesco Community Energy, which aims to reduce the impact of climate change and raise money for worthy causes, while allowing local people to invest in renewable energy projects. He also acts as an advisor for private equity firm, Zouk LLP and infrastructure investment company, Ancala LLP whilst owning P4 Consulting and P4 Group, a property company.
Chris Bataillard is an entrepreneur and active founder, angel investor and advisor in a number of high tech companies. He brings over 30 years’ experience in technology, telecoms, entrepreneurship, and investment banking. At Zouk, Chris is actively involved in ip.access, where he sits on the Board, and SIGFOX, where he represents Zouk on the Strategic Advisory Committee. He is also leading efforts to roll out SIGFOX networks in Latin America in partnership with Telefónica.
Chris has been an entrepreneur for the past 10 years and founded Inquam/Zapp with Qualcomm and the Hariri family to re-farm 1G frequencies with Qualcomm’s 3G CDMA technology. During that period, Chris gained experience starting and running cellular networks and restructuring acquisitions of distressed companies. Before becoming an entrepreneur, Chris spent 20 years in investment banking as head of JPMorgan’s Telecommunications, Media and Technology investment banking for the EMEA region and formerly as an Executive Director at Goldman Sachs.
Chris has a BA in Economics from Yale and a MBA from Stanford. He is fluent in English and French.
Gerhard joined Zouk in 2013 as Finance Manager and Compliance Officer. He trained as a chartered accountant at Deloitte in South Africa before moving with Deloitte to London in 2005 where he worked in their technical accounting group.
Prior to joining Zouk, Gerhard was Financial Controller and Compliance Officer at a London-based Hedge Fund for 6 years. Gerhard graduated top 10 of his class from the University of South Africa in Accounting and Finance.
Tom is a leading UK entrepreneur and active private investor with family interests spanning retail, technology and renewable energy sectors.
In recent years Tom has increased his business focus on sustainability and renewable energy technology, particularly in areas of solar and biofuels. Family interests recently participated in the set-up of an Asian solar energy company focusing on rural applications in India.
Tom is founder of the New Look chain of stores which floated on the London Stock Exchange in June 1998; he later participated in a $1B transaction to take the company private again in association with Apax Partners and Permira Advisers.
In 2002 Tom founded Bridges Community Ventures along with Sir Ronald Cohen of Apax Partners and 3i.
Samer Salty is the Founder and CEO of Zouk Capital. He has 28 years experience in private equity, investment banking and technology. Samer oversees both the strategic direction of the firm and the investment process. Zouk's distinctive dual track strategy, consisting of technology growth and renewable energy infrastructure, was designed and implemented by Samer. His vision for sustainability started with his investment in The Carbon Neutral Company in 2000 and his philosophy is to make investments that both create economic value and build on sustainable principles.
Prior to Zouk, Samer was at JP Morgan where he led many private equity and advisory transactions in the technology and telecom sector. Samer began his career designing and managing the development of air traffic control computer and telecom systems for a number of Fortune 500 clients and government aviation authorities in the US.
Samer holds a B.S. in Electronic Engineering from California Polytechnic and a M.S. in Management and Finance from MIT. He also sits on the International Council of the Harvard Kennedy School, Belfer Centre, and the Advisory Board of the MIT Sloan School of Management.
George joined Zouk in 2012 and has 8 years of experience in project finance, renewable energy and infrastructure investment. He focuses on deal sourcing, transaction execution and due diligence on the infrastructure team.
George previously worked for the construction and services company Carillion Plc., as a project finance professional focused on executing PFI/PPP infrastructure investments in the transport and social infrastructure sectors.
He joined Carillion as a graduate and during his training period gained membership of the AMCT (Association of Corporate Treasurers). George holds an Economics B.Sc from the University of Southampton.
Massimo joined Zouk in 2009 and is a Partner in the Clean Infrastructure team. He holds over 18 years experience in the banking, management consultancy and engineering sectors. Massimo is responsible for the sourcing and execution of clean infrastructure projects.
Before joining Zouk, Massimo worked four years with the Infrastructure and Energy Finance team at Citi in London, advising on project finance transactions across Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Massimo had previously worked as a consultant at Bain & Company, as researcher in The Structural Engineering Department of the Politecnico di Milano and served as a Lieutenant in the Italian Military.
Massimo holds an MBA from the Columbia Business School of NY and an MS Cum Laude in Civil Engineering from Politecnico di Milano.
Richard Pereira joined Zouk as a Partner in 2007 and is the CFO and COO. He has worked in private equity and accountancy in London for 14 years. Richard draws on a strong track record of management, administration and investment with top tiers firms.
Richard joined Zouk from Ernst & Young, where he was a director of the firm’s investment management business and was responsible for the Zouk account. He previously worked as an investment manager at an Anglo-German private equity house and before that at KPMG in London where he trained as an ACA and worked within the firm’s Treasury and Market Risk Group.
He currently sits on the listing panel of PLUS markets and previously on AIM. He is a Chartered Accountant, member of the Association of Corporate Treasurers and holds a BSc in Economics from the University of Bristol. Richard also served with Distinction in the Republic of Singapore Airforce.
Kasia joined the firm in 2008 and is Zouk's HR and Operations Manager covering a wide spectrum of responsibilites which include running the operations and providing support to Fund Administration and Investor Relations.
Kasia has recently completed an Employment Law qualification from the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and holds a BA in German Linguistics from the University of Lodz, Poland. She has also studied at both LMU and SDI in Munich, Germany.
Norris joined Zouk’s Investor Relations team in 2015 where she manages Zouk’s ongoing fundraising efforts and engagements with investors. She draws on over 7 years of experience in Institutional Sales.
Norris previously worked at Height Securities, a research broker-dealer focused on regulatory, macroeconomic, and geopolitical risk research, where she was a Vice President on the Institutional Sales team. Prior to Height Securities, she was a Sales Associate for two years at FBR Capital Markets.
Norris holds a BA from Princeton University where she majored in Political Science.
Justin is a Principal on the Technology Growth Team at Zouk, having joined the firm in 2007. He is responsible for sourcing, structuring, executing and managing investments and is currently focused on the UK and Scandinavian markets. Over his 9 years at Zouk he has been involved in technology and services business across a range of sectors and themes, including enterprise SaaS, solar, energy efficiency, electric mobility, mobile payments and digital media. He sits on the Board director of Solarcentury (UK) and Readly (SE; deputy director), and was previously a Board observer at Anesco (UK).
Prior to joining Zouk, Justin set up and ran a business venture in the music entertainment industry. Justin holds a BSc. in Neuroscience from the University of Sydney.
Nathan Medlock joined Zouk in 2013 and is a Partner in the Technology Growth Team. With over 20 years’ experience in private equity, M&A, corporate finance and government advisory, Nathan brings significant direct investment and operational experience to Zouk.
Before joining Zouk, Nathan was a Partner at Galaxis Capital where was active in operational roles with Private Equity backed companies, including that of CEO in a Swedish listed mining company and CFO of a private US biotech company. Prior, he worked at Warburg Pincus in a direct investment role where he invested, managed and restructured over a $1bn of investments in European growth capital companies. Prior to those roles, Nathan was with Lehman Brothers where he was a director in the private equity division.
Nathan holds a Master of Business Administration with Honours from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and a Masters of Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and Energy Systems (Nuclear) from the University of Manchester.
Laila Kreaa joined Zouk as Samer Salty's personal assistant. She has over 10 years experience as an executive assistant in the UK and Middle East. She studied International Relations at Sussex University and speaks English, Arabic, Spanish and French.
John joined Zouk’s Technology Growth Team in 2013. He has over 6 years of combined experience in growth equity, investment banking and technology.
Prior to Zouk, John spent 3 years in investment banking at J.P.Morgan and C.W.Downer & Co, where he advised on a wide range of transactions in technology, energy and diversified industrials. In addition, John has served as a consultant to the United Nations Development Programme in New York, where he promoted the adoption of clean energy technologies in developing countries. He has also carried out economics and scientific research for Columbia University’s Lenfest Center for Sustainable Energy, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and the Joint European Torus, one of the world’s largest nuclear fusion research facilities.
John holds graduate degrees in sustainable economics and technology policy from Columbia University and the University of Cambridge, as well as a degree in industrial engineering from École Centrale in Lyon, France.
Anthony Fox joined Zouk in 2000 and is a Partner. He brings over 30 years of senior management experience with growth and established companies in Asia, Europe and the United States and the Middle East. His expertise in management, operations and technology is invaluable to the execution of Zouk’s cleantech investment strategy. He sits on the boards of thee of Zouk’s portfolio companies: Trilliant, Orb Energy and Ozz Electric
Before joining Zouk in 2000, Anthony was Chief Executive of global e-commerce for Kingfisher Plc and previously Managing Director of Kingfisher Asia Pacific Limited. Prior to that, he was CFO of Planning Sciences International 'Gentia Software', which he listed on NASDAQ.[nbsp] Anthony was also Group Finance Director and CEO of Cathay International Holdings plc, a company listed on the LSE, and served as CFO of Metier Management Systems (Asia) Ltd.
Anthony is a Chartered Accountant and member of the UK Chartered Institute of Taxation.
Jessica is the Infrastructure team's Portfolio Manager and is responsible for the management and administration of the funds' operational assets. She worked extensively on the development and sale of Zouk’s 20MW UK Solar Portfolio.
Before joining Zouk, Jessica worked for the financial training unit at Euromoney Institutional Investor PLC. Jessica is currently undertaking the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales ACA qualification, is Prince2 qualified (project management) and holds a BA in Classical Studies from the University of Manchester.
Marieke is an investment manager in Zouk’s Technology Growth team. Prior to joining Zouk, Marieke was part of Arle Capital’s investment team where she focused on the European energy and business services sector. Previous to that Marieke worked at Credit Suisse, structuring acquisition financings and recapitalisations for European corporate and private equity clients. While at Credit Suisse, she focussed on TMT, business services and manufacturing and executed transactions worth over €5 billion cumulatively.
Before that she worked at NIBC in Frankfurt as part of the leveraged finance origination team where she executed 8 acquisition and growth financings in the German mid-cap market.
Marieke holds a Master in Business Administration from Mannheim University.
Colin joined Zouk in 2007 as a Partner and established the Infrastructure team. With over 20 years industrial experience in the power sector, M&A and project finance, Colin brings to Zouk a strong record in operations, energy trading, corporate finance and project finance. Colin oversaw the investment of the first infrastructure fund and is a board member of Enviromena Power Systems.
Colin was previously CEO of Killingholme Power Group Ltd where in an 18 month period he oversaw the overhaul of the 680MW gas-fired power station, which resulted in more that trebling in value for the lenders. Colin then also worked with many of the UK’s banks to turn around their distressed debts in the power sector. Prior positions include Vice President of Corporate M&A for TXU Europe where he led transactions in the Power and Oil & Gas sectors. He was also a Project Finance Manager for Mitsui Babcock, closing the Shandong Project in China, then the world’s largest (4GW) Independent Power Project.
Colin is a Chartered Accountant (FCA) having trained with Coopers & Lybrand and has a BSc in Chemical and Process Engineering.
